This is a little off topic, but it’s something that can save all of us when gettting an electronic gift for someone this holiday season. It really covers buying electronics any time of the year.

If you’ve ever purchased a new printer or appliance, you’ve come across a potential problem. Buy a new printer, get it home, put in the ink cartridges, and you’re ready to go. Right? Maybe not. Most printers don’t come with a cable so you can connect it to your computer. If you don’t have one, or you didn’t know that you needed a cable, you would have to make another trip to the store and get a cable before you can use the printer.

I just bought a new stove/range. It doesn’t come with a power cord. I knew that, so I removed the one from the old stove and used that. My new washer didn’t come with water hoses.

When you are buying anything, either as a gift or for yourself, here are a few things to keep in mind.

Are you buying a battery operated toy or device? Often you will get batteries when you purchase. Sometimes you don’t. Never assume that the batteries are included.

Does the electronic gift you’re purchasing have the capability to attach to another devices? Maybe a computer or a television? Find out if the hardware to hook them up is included. A key point is to determine what type of inputs the device has so you can get the correct cable. There are different cables for different inputs.

If you get someone a DVD player, they won’t be able to use it if they don’t have any DVDs to play. You might want to get them a DVD so they can actually use the gift right away.

If you get someone a video game, find out if you need a piece of hardware to play the game, a controller or addon.

You get the point. Take a little time to find out if there is anything not included with the product that you will need to actually use it. It’ll make your life a whole lot easier.

Here’s an article from Marlon Sanders that you will find useful. If you know about Marlon, you know that he is one of the “Real Deals” on the Internet. He’s been around for a long time and has an impressive track record. Read and learn.

The Secret, Hidden Power of OMG Marketing That Saves You Enormous Amounts Of Time, Money and Energy And Gets You To Paydays 50% Faster — And It Doesn’t Even Cost You A Dime

I hate learning curves. Because they take time and cost money. Plus, they’re a pain.

What do you have to create?

Banner ads - Sales letters - Graphic design - Affiliate site - Web site - Ebook cover - Upsells - Downsells - Ezine ads - Google ads - Blogs - Facebook sites

Would you rather find the success you’re seeking in 6 months or 1 year? Which do you prefer?

If you want to do it in 1/2 the time, if you want to be on the 6 month program and not the 1 year program, then I’m going to share with you three simple rules to cut your learning curve by 50% or more, speed your progress enormously and get you the results you want many times faster.

Rule one: You Can’t Create From A Vacuum

I’m a writer by trade. And the hardest thing to do is to write from a vacuum. If you start and have no input but expect to crank out output, you’re in a pickle.

That’s why when you write or create, you build yourself a folder package.

This can be samples of other writings, quotes, materials, articles, web sites you print, books, pages ripped out of books — anything that will prime your brain when you begin the creation process.

Rule Two: Always Have A Model

When I do consultations or the rare event where I critique items for my customers, I notice a trend: Almost no one follows a proven model.

They omit obvious factors used in almost every successful sales letter, blog, banner ad, upsell, Google ad or creative you see online.

This goes hand-in-hand with rule one. You can’t create in a vacuum. So build up a collection of sales letters and web sites you KNOW work.

Then, when you go to create YOURS, make sure you incorporate all the successful elements you see in the model or models.

I’m always taking screen caps of guarantees, headlines, page designs, bullet points and order forms that I can use as examples on our next project.

What you do is COMPARE what you’re creating against your models, your benchmarks, your examples in order to make sure that what you create is up to speed. I don’t see a lot of people doing this.

What I see the vast majority of people doing is putting a small amount of effort into the end result and not doing their homework.

Plain and simple: The people who succeed in this business do their homework. Those who don’t, don’t. But this isn’t some arduous task.

You do it while sitting on the sofa watching TV and during commercial breaks. You surf web sites and save good ones to your hard drive. Or take a screen cap of the best elements.

Then you take your MODEL or MODELS and you print them out. Hang out on a lawn chair or go down to your fav coffee shop and read over them. Study them. Sink your teeth into the copy, the headline, the psychology.

This is EASY work. It’s actually fun. But it’s extremely important.

Rule Three: Make A Side-By-Side Comparison

After you create whatever you have to create, whether it’s a banner ad, sales letter, graphic design, web site, ebook cover or anything else, do a side-by-side comparison.

Literally print out your web site, sales letter, banner ads, ebook covers or whatever else it is. Compare YOURS to your model or models side-by-side. Look at the length, the size, the colors, the balance. Ask others to compare the two and tell you which they feel is most effective.

I see people creating sales letters, web sites, designs, ebooks and sales processes without doing their homework.

It’s no huge secret which sales letters do really well online.

Grab yourself one of those and compare it to YOURS.

“But Marlon, my widget is different.”

This is why I have my Ateam calls. You can do your best then show it to me on an Ateam call and I’ll give you quick feedback.

But short of that, do your searches on Google. Find other web sites you know to be successful and compare YOUR creation with what you see.

My message today is simple:

Model success

Do your homework

Make side-by-side comparisons

Typically, when someone asks me to critique their sales letter, blog or web site, I can tell in 10 seconds — they didn’t do their homework.

They worked without a successful model in front of their face.

WRONG!

You get your models. You stick them in front of your face. You use them as fodder for your creativity. You don’t blatantly rip off. But you make darned sure you include the successful elements and components. And that there’s a modicum of resemblance in a side-by-side comparison.

If you don’t do your research, you’re totally ignoring the immense amount of money and time others have spent getting a model that works.

Real world is this: 9 out of 10 things you try don’t work. That’s real world.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is blowing smoke up your ying yang.

So do YOU want to be the one who goes out and tries the 9 things that don’t work? Why not find the 1 that DOES work then use it as a model.

Now, blatantly ripping people off can be illegal, is in bad taste and is NOT what I’m referring to.

But modelling and emulating is good. Finding all the successful components or elements in something and making sure you use them is GOOD!

People ask me to critique sales letters that are about one tenth the length of any successful sales letter you can find at a similar price point.

And they wonder what I think.

It’s simple: I think the person didn’t do their homework.

Do your homework.

Model success.

You have something that is NOT working, NOT selling, NOT converting, NOT putting bacon on the table?

Start out by comparing it to what you KNOW as a fact works.

That’s a very good starting point. Compare. Find the differences. Make changes. Test again.

“Oh look! There are testimonials here! Oh look! The bonuses have more than one sentence of illustration. Oh look! The bonuses have illustrations. Oh look! There’s a certificate for the guarantee. Oh look! They have 10X the raw number of bullet points I have!”

Oh look!

See, that’s the power of comparison.

It’s called “Oh look” marketing.

And it doesn’t cost you a dime.

“OMG (Oh My Gosh) their headline has numbers an specifics in it and mine doesn’t! OMG, their banner has a numerical benefit and mine doesn’t. OMG, this super power web site has a sales letter that prints out to 25 pages and mine prints out to TWO!”

OMG!

If you do this, you will at LEAST cut your learning curve by 50%. That means you can hit pay dirt in 6 months instead of 1 year.

OMG, their sales letter has subheads and mine doesn’t!

OMG, their sales letter has a deadline for acting today and mine
doesn’t!

OMG!

See, all those OMG’s save you an enormous amount of time learning them on your own by trial and error.

You don’t need to reinvent marketing.

Marketing has already been invented.

What you need to do is to have the smarts to learn from others who have gone before you.

I’ll also add that the best investment you make is in your own education, learning from those who have gone before you, tried tons of things, cut out the 90% that don’t work and share the 10% that do work.

Today, November 18, is the day that you can get your hands on a package of Internet Marketing PLR from Jimmy D. Brown. Here’s why you should take a look at this offer.

What you’re going to get is unique and useful private label content, from a man who has a long and proven reputation for delivering quality and value. If you’ve been disappointed in the past with other PLR that you have purchased, and you have the idea that PLR isn’t worth the investment, don’t let that keep you from looking at this offer.

Jimmy is offering 3 different packages. Bronze, which is free, with no strings attached(no email address required), a silver package, and a gold package. Because you can get the Bronze Package for free, you can download and take a look at what type of content you can expect.

PLR can be a big help if you’re doing any type of content creation. And as most of us know, it can sometimes be a challenge to come up with ideas of what to write about. Quality PLR can make this job a whole lot easier.

If you’re interested in using PLR, this is an offer you should take a look at. Jimmy released a PLR package just about a year ago, and it was a big hit. It’s not something that he does all of the time, and once this offer is over, it could be a while before he does it again.

Go to the site and get the free Bronze package. If the offer isn’t live yet, check back later, because today is the day. I don’t know how many packages are available, or how long this is going to be available, so don’t delay. Click here to get your PLR…

Getting quality PLR content is important, but it’s no good to you if you don’t know how to use it. Here is a list of seven ways you can use any PLR content. I’m sure there are more, but this should give you some ideas.

1. Sell the reports. You can leave them as they are, or you can change the title, graphics, edit the reports, or add to it. With a little work, you have a product of your own that you can sell while keeping all of the profits.

2. Record the content. Read the content, or have someone else read it, record it, and sell either the mp3 recordings via download, or you could burn them to CD and sell the physical product.

3. Rewrite them to fit your niche. With a little rewriting, you can make your PLR content relate to your niche. Instead of a report on writing and submitting articles, you could sell it as a report on how marketers in the dog niche could write pet articles to drive traffic to their sites. You could do this for several niches.

4. Add these reports to a membership site. Coming up with good information for your membership site can be difficult. PLR content can make your job a whole lot easier. Adding new content on a regular basis is a lot easier with quality PLR.

5. Email autoresponder series. You can set up a multi-part email course. Take a report and send out a page or two of the report in each email. Include an offer at the end of each email for a related product. This is also a good way to get people to sign up for your list.

6. Writing articles. You can use the PLR content to write articles for your web site, your blog, and/or your list. One thing to be cautious about is submitting PLR content to article directories. This won’t be effective unless you substantially rewrite the article before you submit it.

7. Create free reports. Use the PLR content to create small reports that you use as incentives to get new subscribers. If you have an affiliate program, you could let your affiliates rebrand the reports and give them away as well.

There you have it. 7 ways to use PLR content. You may have heard of these before, but the key is to implement these ideas. A lot of people won’t make the effort to use PLR content effectively, so don’t make the mistake of not doing anything because you think everyone else is doing it They’re not.

One of the challenges of Internet Marketing is coming up with content on a regular basis. This is especially true if you write a newsletter or post to a blog on a regular basis.

Coming up with ideas can be a challenge. After a while, you may get the idea that you have written your “best” stuff, and there’s no more left. Of course nothing could be further from the truth.

One often overlooked way to get ideas for great content is to sign up for Google Alerts. Go to http://www.google.com/alerts.

Google Alerts allow you to select any search terms you want, and they’ll email you links to relevant content as it happens, daily, or weekly, depending on your preferences.

You can choose what type of results you’ll get:

Comprehensive

News

Blogs

Web

Video

Groups

You can set up as many alerts as you want, using any search terms you want. You can monitor the news, blogs, and more within your market. This is a great way to jump start your writing by giving you ideas and links to sites with content that you can cite and use.

Once you set up a few alerts, you can monitor the results you’re getting. If you find that the results aren’t quite what you want, go and edit the search term and/or the source of the data. Play around with it for awhile, and see what happens. It’s free, easy to set up and use, and can make your writing a whole lot easier. Enjoy.

One thing most of us who have a web site want is more traffic. The more the better. In fact, the idea is that if we have lots of traffic, we’ll make lots of money and live happily ever after.

One thing that is often forgotten is that before you start showing your site to visitors, you need to make sure you have your sales process in place. If you’re driving traffic to a page that looks awful, or that is confusing, you’re wasting your traffic.

I’ve been doing research for a few sites, and what I’ve been finding is that there are a lot of web sites that I visit that are pretty bad. These are sites that are listed in the first few pages of the search results. What does this mean for you and me?

For one thing, it’s a lesson that shows that before you concentrate on getting traffic to your site, you should concentrate on your landing page first.

The other thing it shows us is that there is room for us in these markets. If a number of sites in the first few pages of the search engine results are doing a sub-par job on their landing pages, that means we have the opportunity to present a better and more effective landing page.

For the purposes of this article, I’ll define a landing page as any page on your site that your visitor enters from. It could be from an adwords ad, a link at the end of an article, your blog, or search engine listings. Any page your visitor first sees when they get to your site.

There’s no magic formula that I know of that will create the perfect site. That’s not what I’m talking about. What matters is that you don’t concentrate on getting traffic before you get your site in order.

What good is traffic if your visitors click away from your site in a couple of seconds? The whole point of getting visitors to your site is to have them take the action you want them to take. That action could be buying something, subscribing to your list, completing a survey, or clicking on an ad.

Always work to increase your traffic. Just remember that to benefit from that traffic, you have to make the visitor stick around on your site for a while so they can consume your information and make the decision on whether to take the desired action instead of immediately clicking away from your site.

Whether you use the search engines to find information for personal reasons or if you use them for research for your business, search engines are essential resources these days.

Most people have their favorite search engines. This makes sense, because if you are satisfied with the results you get, why go any further. Besides, it takes time to go to each search engine and enter your search phrase. And you have to remember what you find, or take notes.

A while back, Derek Franklin released Search Automator 3, a piece of software that allowed you to easily access several different search sites from one interface. It had a built-in browser and made it easier than ever to do search.

The big drawback continued to be that you had to go to each search site and open a new window. Tabbed browsing make it easier because you could open a new window for each search, but it was still a bit inconvenient.

Search has just gotten a lot easier with Derek Franklin’s release of Search Automator Force, software that is even better than Search Automator 3. Why?

For one thing, Search Automator Force is a FREE download. There is no trial version and nothing to buy. Just because it’s free doesn’t make it good. What makes it worthwhile is what it DOES…

Search Automator Force allows you to use any browser you want to do your search - Firefox, Google Chrome, IE 7.

Enter a keyword into the software, choose several different search sites and search types, click search, and a separate window opens for each search site automatically. You can click each tab to immediately access each search site.

You can do several different types of searches as well. Search blogs, images, news, and search sites all from one keyword search.

Another great feature is that once you enter a keyword, a menu of related keywords appears. You can click on any of these keywords to get related results.

You can watch a short video that demonstrates what Search Automator Force can do by going to the site. There’s a lot more to it than I’m describing here. Whether you try it out or not doesn’t affect me at all. There’s no hidden agenda, just a cool, useful, free piece of software that you can get right away. To get Search Automator Force, go to http://www.searchautomator.com

One way to spot a good affiliate program is when you find a supply of content you can use to promote the product. If they have banners, articles, email messages, and rebrandable free reports, it makes it easier for you.

Consider this first…

Have you ever had the experience of going through the day’s email messages, and noticing that half a dozen of them are promoting the same product? That’s not unusual these days. What gets me irritated is when I find that I am reading the SAME exact message each time. The only difference is who it’s from. A lot of times even the subject line is the same.

Maybe it’s just me, but after I see a couple of these messages, there is no chance that I will read any more of them. I immediately hit the delete button as soon as I open the message. Why? Because I don’t have the time or patience to read the same thing over and over again.

It just seems like the easy way out. And what really amazes me is that a lot of times, people who have a good reputation online are using the messages too.

Having access to email messages that you can send out to your list is a real time saver. But it can also be a deal killer to your subscribers. If you take a little time to rewrite the message in your own words, it can make the difference between a sale and never having your message read.

If you use a lot of these pre-written email messages to send to your list, you run the risk that your subscribers will get in the habit of deleting your messages without even opening them.

It’s not hard to rewrite these messages. Just rewrite each paragraph in your own words. A few minutes of your time can result in you getting the click and the sale. Something to think about…
