Tips And Strategies For Effective Online Marketing
How To Profit When Someone Leaves Your List
A few days ago I was going through my in-box and decided to leave a few of the lists I was on. Some of the lists were nothing but a constant parade of ads. There were some that weren’t bad, but I had lost interest.
I clicked on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email messages that I received, and once I clicked on the unsubscribe button on the web page that opened, I was presented with a confirmation page that told me that my request was successful.
This happened in the majority of the cases. But there were a few surprising exceptions. Instead of clicking on the unsubscribe link on the web page and being sent to a confirmation page, I was sent to another page.
A few of the lists that I left sent me to a page that confirmed my request to unsubscribe. But they also presented me with a text box where I could let them know why I was leaving. What these marketers were doing was getting feedback that they could use to make their list better.
It may not seem like this would be more profitable than letting the email software handle unsubscribe requests automatically. But if you can get people to tell you why they are leaving, and you can make corrections, you can reduce the number of people leaving your list. The more subscribers you have the more profit you can potentially make.
Another thing I was presented with was really a surprise. The confirmation page I was sent to after I clicked the unsubscribe button was a one time offer.
I had just left this marketer’s list, and he sent me to a one time offer page! I have no idea if this is profitable or not, but it is worth a try. I was leaving the list, and he was still trying to sell me something.
I didn’t buy anything. But it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try it out for myself. You really can get a lot of ideas by looking at what other marketers are doing. To your continued success…
