Writing and submitting articles is a great free way to get traffic to your site. Choose your topic, select a few keywords, add your resource box, and submit. It’s really that easy. To get the most out of writing and submitting articles, you have to do a few things.

Choose a topic that is related to your web site or the product you are promoting. Decide what keywords someone might use to find what you are offering. Then go to Wordtracker’s Free Keyword Tool and enter your keyword.

You’ll get the top 100 results, with the searches on your keyword and the related keywords. Scan through the list and select the keywords that seem like a good match to your product. Then enter each of these keywords to find related keywords.

With your keywords selected, it’s time to write that article. Try to use your main keyword in your title, and use it in your article. Add in some of your related keywords. Make sure you don’t try to use your keywords too often. This can work against you and reduce the chances of your article ranking well for your keywords. Just add them in where appropriate.

Remember that you want people to read your article, and it would be great if a few people liked your article enough that they decided to use it in their newsletter or on their web site. So make your article easy to read and informative. Try to avoid pitching a product directly. The article is where you provide information for your reader.

At the end of your article is where you can put your resource box. It’s your opportunity to get visitors to your site or a merchant site. Offer a free report, or access to more information. Make it compelling for them to click on your links. After all, the reason for submitting the article in the first place is to get free traffic to your site.

Now it’s time to submit your article. There are services out there that will submit your articles for you. I don’t use them myself. If you’re interested, do a search and you’ll find several sites and software solutions you can use.
